Teacher Training

As a teacher, your passion and creativity will inspire and shape future generations.

Looking for challenge and variety? As a teacher you'll work with lots of young people with a range of abilities, thinking on your feet to find creative solutions to problems.

There are various types of teacher training courses available depending on your qualifications, experience and where you want to train.

The Maiden Erlegh Institute, in collaboration with the university, delivers Postgraduate Initial Teacher Education (ITE). Postgraduate Initial Teacher Education (ITE) is ideal for recent graduates and those considering a career change. The one-year course blends academic and practical learning through a combination of school placements and university-based sessions.

You need a bachelor’s degree in any subject to teach in primary, secondary and special schools in England.
