Excellent Mentoring Practice at Maiden Erlegh School
We are pleased to share that Kirsty Dudman and Ana Drazic, both based at Maiden Erlegh School, have been formally recognised by the University of Reading for their exceptional contributions to teacher development.
As part of their involvement in the university’s Initial Teacher Education programme, both colleagues have played a central role in mentoring and supporting Reading Partnership Trainees (RPTs) this year. Their work was highlighted in a letter of thanks from the university, which praised their engagement with the mentor curriculum and the clear structure and consistency they bring to their mentoring practice.
In particular, the university commended:
-
Their thoughtful and reflective approach;
-
The quality of induction, target-setting, and feedback;
-
Their modelling of high standards in both teaching and communication.
This professional and purposeful approach has supported trainees to grow in confidence, develop strong teaching habits, and understand the expectations of the profession.
Both Kirsty and Ana were also nominated for the James Furlong Award, a recognition given to mentors who demonstrate outstanding commitment to teacher education.
Their work reflects the high standards, collaboration and professionalism that underpin Maiden Erlegh Institute’s approach to mentoring and development.
